rmani Hotels & Resorts and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) announce plans to build an Armani Hotel within the new Giga development in Diriyah. Once completed, Diriyah is set to become the leading historical and cultural lifestyle destination in Saudi Arabia. The planned Armani Hotel, which will bear similarity to Armani Hotels & Resorts’ current hotels in Dubai and Milan, will be operated by Emaar Hospitality Group. The 300-year-old village of Diriyah is located just outside Riyadh and is considered the birthplace of the Kingdom and the capital of the first Saudi state. The area is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site At Turaif as well as Wadi Hanifa – a valley with lush palm groves. The Giga Project in Diriyah is intended to pay homage to Saudi Arabia’s history, while also promoting the construction of individual sites, such as office and residential areas, as well as cultural, entertainment, retail, hospitality and educational developments. It is considered one of the key drivers of the Kingdom’s Saudi Vision 2030.

“This is a pioneering project born from the rediscovery of Saudi Arabia’s roots: a dialogue between history and the present that I find very fascinating,” says Giorgio Armani. “The Armani Hotel Diriyah allows me to interpret my idea of lifestyle and hospitality in a particularly subtle and sensitive way. Ten years after opening the two Armani hotels in Milan and Dubai, I am ready to take on this exciting new challenge. I am inspired by this initiative and delighted to be involved in a project of such geographical and cultural scope.”

Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA), commented, “It is an honour to work with Armani Hotels on this prestigious project. Their elegant and forward-thinking approach to modern hospitality will bring a new dynamic to Diriyah’s hospitality offering and bring an exciting guest experience to the Kingdom. We are proud to partner with brands like Armani that demonstrate such a timeless approach to hospitality as we develop one of the world’s greatest meeting places, rich in culture, history and authenticity.”

Armani Hotel Diriyah in design like the other Armani Hotels

Armani Hotel Diriyah is the third Armani hotel worldwide and represents a new interpretation of Armani hospitality that blends with the unique architecture and landscape of the location. It was developed by Diriyah in collaboration with Giorgio Armani and his inhouse interior design team, as well as the architects involved in the design of the site. The hotel features essential lines that highlight the fine materials used, as well as a subtle interplay of volume, light and shadow – perfectly in tune with the aesthetics and landscape of Saudi Arabia.

Overlooking Diriyah’s nightlife and shopping district, Armani Hotel Diriyah offers 70 luxuriously designed rooms, two restaurants and a high-end spa, with suites featuring their own spa and swimming pool, offering a variety of wellness and relaxation experiences. The hotel is connected to some 18 exclusive, self-contained Armani Branded Residences, designed and furnished by Giorgio Armani himself, with spacious interiors, outdoor pools, landscaped terraces and rooftop terraces.

Diriyah is set to become one of the most pedestrian- friendly cities in the Middle East and, when completed, an important cultural and heritage site. The design incorporates the traditional architectural principles of Najdi architecture: low, compact and organic architecture, roof terraces, ornate doorways and large courtyards. Each neighbourhood will be highly walkable, making the area’s sights and attractions easily accessible. This will ensure that Armani Hotel Diriyah fits organically into this rich, urban and cultural fabric.
